CA is one of the most prestigious and demanding courses which has a wide scope in India as well as abroad. It needs patience, time, dedication, and hard work. Also, it is known to be one of the toughest courses.
Due to a lot of hard work required, most of the students get confused about whether they should do regular college or correspondence with the CA course. In fact, it is one of the common dilemmas of students whether to continue with the regular college or not if their CA Foundation result is positive.
Some students take the wrong decision under the influence of their friends & family and then regret their decision later.
Doing regular or correspondence college with CA is a major career decision. You should consider the pros and cons of their decision before reaching any conclusion.

First of all, you have to check whether the college is good or bad? If you have got admission in a good college then, in my opinion, you should not leave the college.
Now let’s understand how to decide whether a college is good or not. To decide this you should consider 3 factors: Brand, Alumni & Placements.
To check the brand value of the college, get information about the alumni of the college. Check where previous students are placed what they are doing right now professionally.
Also, don’t forget to check the placement report of the college before taking any decision.
Following are some advantages of regular college:
In a regular college, you get an opportunity to meet & network with people having different career ambitions. You might meet people with ambitions such as MBA, UPSC, Law, etc. which widens your knowledge.
Always remember “Your Network Is Your Networth”. Networking can help you a lot in reaching new heights in your career and college is the best place for networking.
When students fill the form of CA Foundation they are not aware of different career options. In schools, students only get to know about 3 or 4 career options like CA, CS, B.com.
But in a regular college, you get to know about different career options which ultimately help you in shaping your career.
In regular college, you meet people with different backgrounds & career ambitions which will ultimately help you in exploring the different career paths.
In regular college, many kinds of societies are available through which you will get a chance to make connections with people having mutual interests.
These societies organise various events and participation in these college societies help you in developing leadership & management skills.
College helps you in becoming street smart & develop your overall personality. In college, you will get abundant opportunities to interact with different people.
You also get a chance to participate in various events, fests, competitions which will help in your personality development.
The regular college also helps in improving your presentation skills & communication skills.
Good colleges generally have campus placement for articleship. Top firms prefer regular college students so they recruit candidates directly from the college for articleship.
Even if you go for the off-campus placement you will see that more preference is given to regular college students.
Good articleship placement ultimately results in a good placement after becoming a Chartered Accountant.
If you are in a good college there are higher chances of articleship placement in top firms and when you are doing articleship from a top firm, there are higher chances of getting placed in a top firm after becoming CA.
Regular college students get more preference while pursuing other qualifications like MBA. Top MBA colleges give higher preference to regular college students as compared to correspondence college students.
So regular college also helps you in pursuing higher qualifications.
Now the question arises why students drop college even after having so many advantages of regular college.
And the simplest answer to this question is Misguidance. Most of the students leave good regular college because of the misguidance they receive from their teachers & peers.
Some coaching institutes misguide students for their personal benefits. Another most common reason is Orthodox Suggestions. Some relatives also misguide students by giving their orthodox suggestions.
Most of the students who fall for this misguidance & orthodox suggestions regret their decision later.
Please don’t take this major career decision based on someone else’s advice. Analyse the pros and cons of your decision and then take any decision.
This is another common dilemma students face while taking the decision of regular college with CA. Most of the students think that they will not be able to manage their CA studies along with regular college.
If other students can manage regular college & CA together why can’t you? Also, mostly syllabus of graduation is covered in CA so you will not have to spend much time on your college syllabus.
