Every CA student faces this situation when he has to decide on the selection of coaching classes. As easy as it sounds, it is not like that. It's one of the most difficult decisions in the CA journey because students are going to choose mentors and not one teacher.
Deciding also happens to see various factors, but we are not sure whether those factors are accurate or not. CA is a vast course which takes 4-5 years minimum to be completed. This whole tenure is filled with challenges and taking decisions. One wrong decision can delay your becoming CA to 6 months to 1 year or even more. Never go for a teacher on the basis of his visibility in the market. These are mostly paid advertisements which are not true. Even if you observe the pattern, you will find how repetitive they are.
If some teacher has to constantly pay for advertisements and selling his classes then you should understand the ethical behavior of the teacher. Now it depends upon you if you want to go for such a faculty.
See, talking about your work is important but excessive talking and trying to prove something is not done.
Never choose a teacher on the basis of the suggestion of someone who studied from that teacher 10-12 years back. The coaching industry has changed a lot and it might be the case that those teachers have not updated their method of teaching or study material.
It will become very inconvenient for you to study with that obsolete technology. If you find people who are still studying from them then you can definitely ask for their suggestions.
Why even talk about the span of 10-12 years, these past two years have changed everything about the method of studying and teaching. So, choose teachers who are not only good teachers but also keep on updating themselves with the world.
We all have made such decisions at least once in our lives when we chose something on the basis of it's price. We just presumed that if it was expensive it's better. Well then we must have experienced that this was not the case.
If someone is charging exorbitantly high fees from you and spending it on excessive marketing expenses in order to gather more audience then do you really feel they value your money?
Yes, earlier the coaching modes were in physical mode and therefore auditoriums were to be booked which led to high fixed costs. But today everything is happening virtually and the costs have come down to one third, if still the teacher is charging the same amount of money then you need to question their ethical behavior.
When a student has just cleared CA Foundation, at that time he or she doesn't have much knowledge about how to choose CA Inter classes. So, they fall for advertisements which again are paid.
In order to take all the fees at one go, coaching Institutes lure students and ask them to deposit fees for all the subjects at the same time. This leaves students with no choice than to bear the pain.

Its always a better approach to study group wise. First complete one group and then move to the other.
Be conscious about your own pace. Self awareness is the key. One rule can't be applied to everyone. Some students are just doing CA, some are also going to a regular college and some are also pursuing some other course alongside. There are also students who hardly managed to score 200 marks and then there are students who are scoring 360 marks in CA Foundation.
You must think, how can everyone be dealt equally with the same approach. So, as students you should have that clarity of thought about how you are going to take it forward.

Always be open to constructive feedback. Ask suggestions from people who are already taking classes from the teachers or have taken in recent attempts. They are going to be the people whose suggestions will be valued the most.
But also remember that a teacher is not a God, not everyone will be satisfied from one teacher. So, go for teachers whose you have gathered maximum positive reviews of.
If you yourself don't value your time then who else will. You should be incharge of your time and no one else. Don't waste all the time on classes that it leaves no time for self study and revision.
Before selecting any coaching you must keep in mind how many no. of views institute is providing and will they provide the backup of lectures?
Most of the coaching insututes are providing a maximum of 1.5 views or if you have to get 2 views then you have to pay extra money. What if you want to watch the same chapter twice? It's your right to get a minimum of 2 views.
So many coaching centers are just so reluctant to provide backup. Why so? You are also a human being and you can have several reasons why you were unable to attend the live class. It's your right in that case to claim the class.
Before selecting a teacher, you must see whether all the required ICAI materials are covered or not. Past 5-10 years papers, full ICAI study material, RTPs, MTPs etc, everything should be compulsorily covered.
The role that effective self study plays is unmatchable. In fact you should focus more on self study than on classes. From the very beginning of your preparation, you should be studying apart from your classes and plan your studies in a way that leaves ample time for multiple revisions.
Make sure to check or enquire from the faculty before taking classes whether they provide mock tests or not. It is really important that you are given a minimum of two full length mock tests before your exams so that it gives a boost to your preparations.
Not only should mock tests be conducted but it should be checked properly with suggestions to help you understand where you are lacking.
When you will face doubts after completing the classes and if no one would be answering then that creates a panicky situation.
Enquire from people whether the faculty you are choosing solves their doubts or not. See it's not possible to solve each and every doubt, some doubts are irrelevant as well but it shouldn't be the case that all the doubts are going ignored.
