How I Removed Distractions & Cleared CA Exams?

In today’s "hyper-distracted" environment, staying focused is the single most important factor for success. While distractions have always existed—moving from cable TV in the past to Reels and Shorts today—the challenge for the modern student is much harder. If you find yourself reading the same page over and over without absorbing anything, you are not alone.

This is just Part-2 of the guide. More parts are coming soon. Stay connected.

Here is a roadmap to help you reclaim your attention and excel in your studies.

Master Your Environment and Tools

The primary source of distraction today is the smartphone. To win, you must manage it aggressively:

  • Use DND Mode: Utilize the "Do Not Disturb" feature. If you use your phone for classes, ensure all other notifications are silenced.
  • Create Distance: If you don't need your phone for study, switch it off or keep it in another room.
  • Turn Off Notifications: Notifications are designed to keep you engaged. Turning them off for apps like WhatsApp and Instagram is essential.
  • Selective Social Media: Avoid "Rage Bait" on Twitter and the endless scrolling of Instagram Reels. These platforms turn users into "zombies." If you must use them, set a dedicated, limited time for them.

Establish Routine and Deadlines

Without a schedule, you will feel like you have all the time in the world, leading to procrastination.

  • The Power of Routine: A fixed routine helps automate your day so you don't have to decide when to study.
  • Set Hard Deadlines: Use a "Map" for your studies. For example, decide that specific chapters must be finished within 48 hours. Deadlines create the necessary pressure to stay focused.
Tackle "Internal" Distractions

Often, distractions don't come from the outside but from our own minds.

  • The "Practice Book" Thought Method: When random thoughts (about friends, past events, or worries) pop up while reading, don't follow them.
  • The Notebook Technique: Keep a small notebook nearby. As soon as a distracting thought enters your mind, write it down to deal with later and immediately return to your books.
Optimize Your Body for Focus

Your physical health directly impacts your attention span.

  • Dietary Choices: Avoid heavy "local anesthesia" foods like parathas or chole bhature that make you sleepy. Focus on homemade, protein-heavy meals.
  • Hydration and Caffeine: Keep a water bottle with you and sip it constantly to stay alert. Use caffeine (coffee or tea) as a tool, preferably without milk, to power through study sessions.
  • Physical Activity: Whether it’s walking, the gym, or yoga, daily physical movement is necessary to maintain the stamina required for CA studies.
Use Mental Models: Meditation and Journaling
  • Mindfulness/Meditation: Spend 5 minutes a day sitting in a quiet place focusing on your breath. Think of your thoughts like clouds passing by—observe them, but do not touch them.
  • Journaling: Writing down your true feelings, problems, and potential solutions is an underutilized tool. It helps you understand yourself and provides the motivation that "motivational gurus" cannot give.

Choose Your Company Wisely

Whether you study at home or in a library, your "circle" matters.

  • The Library Trap: Libraries can be great, but they can also become social hubs. If your library friends spend two hours at the tea stall, they will ruin your career.
  • Avoid Addictions: Stay away from smoking and other harmful habits. They are "poison" that destroy your potential.
All the best!
